I'm really pleased with this dog crate. It has replaced a basic fold up one and is so much nicer looking.I was surprised initially when looking at the instructions that it would take an hour to build and 2 people. It wasn't wrong! There are quite a lot of parts to screw together although I do quite like flat packed furniture so it wasn't so much of a chore. It is worth bearing in mind though because there are plenty of foldable ones on the market that ultimately do the same job, but don't look as nice. The instructions were pretty poor to be honest. They are in diagram format with no written words. Some of the parts you need to use are illustrated so tiny that you cannot make them out, particularly in terms of their orientation. For people who aren't that experienced at putting furniture together it could prove quite tricky. It's not too hard to figure out though.I did have some trouble with the door latch. The door when shut wasn't flush with the frame, meaning the latch wouldn't close. I had to get a small rubber mallet and bang the piece of metal that stops the door from swinging inwards a little further back. This solved the problem but it's not something you should have to do and again, someone who isn't as experienced may struggle and potentially even return the item as faulty. Also the latch that keeps the dog bowl tray in place catches and needs a bit of force in order to make it go in the stay. This is a good feature though and allows you to easily refresh food and water if your dog is inside without having to disturb it. Alternatively, you can have the bowls on the outside if preferred.Issues aside, I'm really pleased with it now that it's built. It looks great and my Italian Greyhound took no time to get into it. There's a nice shelf on top which we can now utilise for ornaments, flowers, picture frames etc. whereas previously this was a wasted space.Overall I think it's pretty good value and does feel well made. Most of the construction is good, just a few niggly issues which may or may not be present on other units.
