I hadn’t known about PawHut before now but wish I had. Having a whelping box is going to make the world of difference for us. Even though ours are small breeds (Italian Greyhounds) we still opted for a large whelping box so that they had room after the birth to use it as a playpen.It came flat packed (see picture 1) and was very easy to assemble within minutes. I haven’t put the walls of the box on the non-slip pad as I haven’t yet decided on its position in the room (see picture 2).We have large pee-pads to use in addition to the non-slip pad. Although it’s washable we felt it would be annoying to have to lift the box each time we wanted to wash and replace the pad.The sides of the box are a little higher than our dogs, so it means privacy and security for the mum and her pups. The perspex ‘windows’ come with a protective film, which we’ve left in place for the moment so they can’t see through until the pups are a bit older.The panels of the box are very solid and will hopefully withstand the knocks from the pups.I especially liked the easy access for the mother to come in and out. There are two panels that can be lifted out to allow the mum to come and go without the pups jumping out.I do think this is very good value for money.
